"Moo~"
I've come across this news article saying that by Fall this year ( Meaning 3rd quarter of the year if I'm not wrong?) the first batch of "test-tube" hamburgers will be produced.
So...what they mean by "test-tube" burgers? Apparently, scientists found a way to use the cow's stem cells to efficiently produce enough skeletal muscle tissue, to be formed into a hamburger patty which will taste and mimic the looks of a real patty.
Reason being its more environment friendly and it also helps to reduce the stress on agricultural resources. Since meat and dairy products requires more land, water and disposal waste products compared to all other human foods, and majority of the pasture lands has already been used.
Therefore, I expect if these hamburgers were to take flight, it'll replace most of the world's meat for mass consumption. I foresee that the price of your Double Cheese Burger will increase. Eat real cows while you can people! D:
But, currently, no companies have expressed interest to these lab meats. *Phew*
It isn't the first time we are eating food off lab-products. But...meat? Hmm...Interesting.
